ENGINE FIRE ON WAKER

The crew on board of the SVITZER (Dutch) Coast Guard vessel WAKER reported a fire in the engine room on 7 September at 18.05.

All crew members have been safely evacuated from the vessel. No injuries were reported. The fire on board of the vessel, anchored off the island of Vlieland, The Netherlands, is under control.

Immediately after the incident was reported, SVITZER Salvage mobilized a fire fighting team, including two salvage fire fighting vessels. All actions to control the situation are closely coordinated with the Dutch authorities. At the moment, the vessel remains anchored off Vlieland with operations ongoing to stabilize and improve the situation.

SVITZER Salvage wishes to thank the Dutch authorities for their prompt and efficient support.
