The Flying Phantom ran aground in dense fog and subsequently capsized. One of the four members of the tugboat crew was rescued by launch as he swam to
safety and was taken to the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. The three remaining crew members are missing.
Svitzer UK managing director James Curry said: “This has been a tragic accident. We are maintaining constant contact with the families of all four crew members and keeping them informed of all developments.”
Svitzer UK will be carrying out its own investigation into the accident and will be co-operating fully with the Marine Accident Investigation branch of the Department of Transport.
