The loss of a second colleague, Eric Blackley, has been confirmed by Strathclyde Police following the sinking of the Flying Phantom in the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland.

Svitzer UK managing director James Curry said: “On behalf of Svitzer employees across the world, I want to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Eric’s family and friends.

“Words cannot describe the sadness felt by Eric’s friends and colleagues at Svitzer. I assure you we will continue to do absolutely everything we can to help the families of Eric, Bob and Stephen. We will also continue to do everything possible to assist Brian and his family recover from this terrible ordeal.

“Our investigation into the accident is ongoing and we are continuing to co-operate fully with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch of the Department of Transport.”
