SVITZER Salvage Australasia was awarded a LOF for the salvage of MV Endeavour River which ran aground near Gladstone, Queensland Australia 2nd December. The 75,000 tonnes Australian bulkcarrier fully loaded with bauxite grounded at Gladstone Harbour off the central Queensland coast and was stuck fast in mud, after striking a navigational buoy while on her way to the berth.
A 30-strong team of Svitzer personnel were working closely with Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), the Australian Maritime Security Authority and the authorities of the port of Gladstone. Five SVITZER tugs managed to refloat and guide the vessel off the mud under command of a SVITZER Salvage master on the high tide of the 5th December.
