On the 14th of January 2009, SVITZER Salvage BV was contracted to refloat the general cargo vessel “Silva”. She was loaded with 4,000 tonnes of wooden pallets and ran aground just outside the very narrow entrance channel of Avedøre Port, south of Copenhagen. She grounded onto a muddy seabed. A SVITZER salvage master, the tug “SVITZER Mars” and the tug “SVITZER Fenja” were mobilised to the site. On the 15th of January the refloat operation started at 12:50 LT when the waterlevel allowed us to. The “SVITZER Fenja” succeeded to refloat the vessel successfully at 12:55 LT. She was subsequently towed into the port of Avedøre for further inspections.
