| At SVITZER, we continuously strive to minimise our environmental footprint. Our latest initiative is the environmentally friendly ECOtugs modelled on our renowned S65/31 tug. Besides triple insulation and heat pump, the vessel features diesel-electric propulsion and fully electrical deck machinery. And in order to save fuel without compromising a high level of performance, three smaller engines make it possible to run the ECOtug at maximum efficiency at all times.
Building on the superior towage capabilities of the M-class tug, the ECOtug is uniquely suited for harbour missions and customized operations in environmentally sensitive areas. The vessel’s fully electrical deck machinery means less oil on deck and less noise and vibrations during operations. And on the environmental front, the ECOtug significantly reduces CO2 by 10%. Fitting of SCR equipment and particular filters result in a 70-80% NOx reduction.
