Our people

At Svitzer, doing difficult things in difficult places not only requires the best equipment, but also the best people

Being part of the Svitzer family

At Svitzer, we believe that offering uninterrupted marine solutions requires not only the best equipment but also the best people. Our ambition is to attract and continuously develop the industry’s experts. Both at sea and on land – worldwide, wherever our customers do business.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Svitzer, our focus on diversity is a natural outcome of a company with a strong talent focus, mindset and culture. This commitment to diversity goes hand in hand with a commitment to inclusion: all employees are valued and treated with respect at all times.

Discrimination and harassment are not tolerated. We are a workplace with an open and vibrant culture, where people are free to be themselves, do their best, inspire others and realise potential for themselves and their teams.

Life at sea

Our more than 3,200 offshore colleagues working onboard the Svitzer tugs are the core of our business. They operate the front line and service our customers – often under difficult and challenging circumstance. From the icy waters of Scandinavia to the sun scorched ports of Brazil, they carry out their tasks with precision and care.

Kenny Christensen
Able Seaman, Denmark

“My best piece of safety advice is to always wear your Personal Protective Equipment, shoes and helmet.”

Jumana Elkholy
Chief Mate, Egypt

“I am very happy to participate in such a unique program. It’s the first time I really feel the support for females in the maritime sector and I am excited to be part of it – and proud of Svitzer for being a pioneer.”

Life on land

If our seafarers are the core of our business, our onshore colleagues around the world form an indispensable support system. Within areas such as Commercial, Procurement, Marine Standards, Technical and HR more than 600 Svitzer colleagues do their important part to enable our men and women at sea to deliver safe, efficient and reliable services to our customers.

Neil Ujagarsingh
