Svitzer awarded at the 2019 Australian Shipping and Maritime Awards
Our Australian region was awarded the Gender Diversity Award, and was Highly Commended for the Environmental Award, at the 2019 DCN Australian Shipping and Maritime Awards.
Last week, our Australian region was awarded the Gender Diversity Award, and was Highly Commended for the Environmental Award, at the 2019 DCN Australian Shipping and Maritime Awards.
In the context of the Diversity Award, Svitzer was recognised for:
• Lifting the profiles of women, encouraging other women to join the business, promoting the benefits of diversity, addressing the gender gap (particularly in sea-going roles), and for
• Having a formalised strategy based on four strategic pillars: inclusive leadership from the top; engagement and communication; targeted talent management; and finally, hardwiring.
Svitzer’s Turning the Tide on Plastic initiative was recognised in a highly contested field of 14 finalists for the Environmental Award.
At Svitzer, the world's oceans and waterways are both our workplace and livelihood. Sadly, these environments are under major threat as a result of plastic pollution. As a marine services provider with operations all around the world, we have a major responsibility to preserve and protect the environments in which we operate.
Sparked by Svitzer Engineer, Adam Western, from Albany, Western Australia, the Turning the Tide on Plastic initiative, aims to tackle the issue of single-use plastic onboard our vessels and in our offices.
Today, we are gathering ideas from across Svitzer on how to collaborate with our customers and port authorities to refuse, reduce, remove and reuse plastic in our ports and terminals.
Thank you to DCN - Daily Cargo News for the recognition.
